An awesome racehorse, Somebeachsomewhere set new boundaries for achievement on the harness racing track.
The World Champion son of Mach Three was named USTA 2YO Pacing colt of the year; USTA 3YO Pacing colt of the year, Dan Patch Pacer of the Year, USTA Horse of the Year and Canadian Horse of the Year.
Somebeachsomewhere blitzed a 1:46.8 World record at Lexington’s Red Mile track in the Bluegrass Stake to equal the fastest race mile in history.
A winner in 20 of his lifetime 21 starts, Somebeachsomewhere started his career with a perfect 6 wins for 6 starts as a 2YO including victory in the Metro Stakes in a World Record 1:49.6.
His 2YO victories also included the Battle of Waterloo, Nassegaweya and Champlain Stakes.
At 3YO he set a new single season earnings record of $2.44 million, breaking the record previously established by Gallo Blue Chip in 2000.
In that year his victories included the $1.47 million North America Cup; $500,000 Breeders Crown; and $650,000 Messenger Stakes.
His only defeat came when he lost by a neck to the World Record son of Art Major, Art Official in the Meadowlands Pace.
From the same maternal family as Cam Terrific 1:49.6 $592,594, Somebeachsomewhere stood his first season in 2009 at Hanover Shoe Farms where he was booked out at $US 20,000. |
