His world record 1:49 at the tight half mile track in Delaware, Ohio makes him ideally suited for our Australasian racing conditions and he comes with a reputation for extreme toughness.
His famed Canadian trainer, Bob McIntosh said of his US Pacing Championship win:
“On Hambletonian Day in the US Pacing Championship, John Campbell said he thought Ponder was a beaten horse in the stretch. But the horse would not allow himself to be passed. Ponder had more sheer guts and determination than any horse I’ve ever had.”

In his career, Ponder paced 22 sub 1:50 miles with 8 victories including the Canadian Pacing Derby and the US Pacing Championship.
His dam, the excellent race mare Empty Feeling 1:53.2 $354,657 is a half sister to Meadowlands Pace winner, Laughs and is a grand-dam of Breeders Crown winner, Shark Gesture 1:49.2. |
